Welcome to Modem-Help

This is the Home page of a site dedicated to providing assistance to modem users. “MODEM” is used in the generic sense - info & links are provided for Broadband (DSL & ADSL), Cable & ISDN digital-modems as well as V.92, V.90, V.34 & slower analog-modems. The site’s genius is in allowing identification of a modem, sufficient at least to find compatible drivers & information, by the same methods that computers use. The site is modem-, protocol- & OS-agnostic, and tries to be as comprehensive as possible.

As much of the site as possible is kept free-to-view, though you are encouraged to use the low-cost registration (top right on every page). As well as paying the site bills (!) this gives access to private forums, site downloads & assistance, plus pages can be advert-free.

This page is intended to help you get to what you want as quickly as possible or--if you just want to browse around--to give guidelines as to how everything is laid out as to get the best out of the vast amount of information available.

Remember, all drivers, downloads & info on this site are found via the modem.
Each Modem Manufacturers’ page also has external web-links, where available.

Your goal, then, is to find your modem’s page. This is often the first stumbling block! but fear not. A multitude of ways are provided to get either to the precise modem, or at least a compatible one. Where possible, each modem is identified by:

  • Name
  • Manufacturer
  • Supplier
  • Chipset
  • Hardware IDs - including BABT, FCC, Manufacturer specials, Model names & EEPROMs
  • Buses, Features, OSs, Protocols & Telecom Countries

Cross-links are provided on the modem page for most of these, which gives an easy way of finding compatible drivers & info if your precise modem does not have any, or you want better. This site also maintains a massive stockpile of both (requires registration, top right).

Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.

Diligently put together in the UK by Alex Kemp. All efforts have been taken to ensure the veracity of what is written - if you know of any errors or omissions then please let us know.
