Atheros General Information

Atheros provide lots of modems (or, to be exact, Wireless LAN cards and Access Points), but not to the public. Atheros is a chipset designer, so what they manufacture are Reference Designs, which are fully-working models of actual devices (with Atheros chips inside them) for other manufacturers to copy.

Unlike many other chipset manufacturers, Atheros provides neither drivers nor Firmware to the public. Once again, these Reference drivers are provided only to those that purchase the Reference Designs.

Atheros does provide some info on their chipsets, but even that is pretty cursory, I am afraid. Sorry that I cannot offer better from these pages.

Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.
