Chipset Manufacturers A-Z Search :: Help

Modem Chipset MFCs A-Z Search pages

Usage: To find a modem chipset manufacturer (then the chipset, then the modem):

  • Use the Quick Links (side-panel) to find, or
  • Enter the first few letters into the Search box, or
  • Use the general Name page for a more sophisticated search.

All drivers, downloads & info on this site are found via the modem.
Each Modem Manufacturers’ page also has external web-links, where available.

Comment
These are the people that supply the technical heart of what makes a modem a modem; using these tables is an excellent way of comparing drivers between all modems that use the same chipset, and also of finding either better drivers or information than your modem manufacturer provides. There’s a downside to every upside, however, and the downside here is that you do need a very good technical knowledge of your modem to make use of the tables directly.
Page Organisation
The chipsets are organised in the following hierarchy:

Manufacturer
 >> Chipset Family Type e.g. Soft Modems
 >> >> Chipset Family e.g. V.92 Soft Modem
 >> >> >> Chipset e.g. DFT V.92 Soft Modem (FCC)

Many (not all) drivers will work for any chipset in the Family, so every modem with a driver and/or other information is shown for both the Chipset Family as well as the Chipset itself. Do remember that some modem mfcs customise their models so that only their drivers will work with their modem. The unknown-modem search & EEPROM links (modem sheets) are provided for these modems.

Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.

Diligently put together in the UK by Alex Kemp. All efforts have been taken to ensure the veracity of what is written - if you know of any errors or omissions then please let us know.
