Site Info, History & Page Stats

These pages are a LAMP-development of the original Modem-Help, UK site (most of the old HTML pages still exist, but havn’t been updated for quite some time). That site, in it’s turn, was a transfer from the first html site on free-pages at Freeserve (sadly, now gone). The current format allows superb search facilities, customisation by Registered members, plus is quick ‘n’ easy to update.

Diligently put together in the UK by Alex Kemp. All efforts have been taken to ensure the veracity of what is written - if you know of any errors or omissions then please let us know.

A Quick Reference for Finding Drivers & Modems

Once you know your modem’s EEPROM ID it is not essential to know the details of each EEPROM-Category type in order to search for drivers & info, although it helps. The following table is for those who want to get stuck straight in without reading the explanations. Please read the following first:

  • All drivers & info are found via a modem.
  • Not all modems have driver or other links.
  • The modem chipset will give easy access to other, compatible modems + a comparison of all drivers for that chipset + all available manuals, etc.

If you want to... ..then search under Comments
Find a driver directly inf Probably not your modem; drivers should work.
Find a modem directly EEPROM ID (or BABT & FCC, ISA ID, Mfc ID, UniModem) Should be your modem; not guaranteed to have drivers etc.
Find a chipset directly ISA ID, PCI ID, USB ID Best to use the unknown modem search Gives at-a-glance comparisons across other modems; may lose features.
