Dial-Up Networking Connectoids (Win95/98)

Fixing the long-time-to-connect problem.
How to get there
This dialog should be opened whilst the modem is NOT in use.
    open My Computer
    open Dial-Up Networking
    select the Connectoid
    Go File | Properties
A screen shot of my own system is shown at right. These are the standard settings for IEAK-installed ISP's such as Freeserve.
  • Log on to network A tick in this box will cause most people's V.90 connect time to needlessly extend from 20 seconds to about 1 minute.

The network referred to is a Local Area Network (LAN), not the Internet or ISP network. This option is selected by default when a connectoid is manually created. If the connectoid has been created during an ISP installation & this box is ticked it is possible that the Dial-Up Adapter in Network is missing, or has become corrupted.
