| general info: | This was originally a 33.6K Cirrus Logic chipset which was upgraded with a 56K DSP to x2TM & V.90. Ambient Technologies then took over the chipset from Cirrus Logic (IC part numbers changed). Intel MSO has discontinued it, although support continues. | ||

| known conflicts: | x2TM modems can suffer problems with Freeserve if they attempt to make an x2TM connection before a V.90 connection (this will fail & connection will stop) - switch off x2TM connections by putting "+ms=11" (no quotes) in the Extra Settings box if this occurs. | ||

| A dual V.90/x2TM "hard" modem (all modem functions in silicon) which comes in External, ISA PnP & PCMCIA versions with speakerphone options. Cirrus Logic produced the original chipset. Cirrus then spun all its modem chipsets off as an independant company called Ambient Technologies. Ambient became part of Intel, and Intel now no longer uses the Ambient name. Intel discontinued the chipset, but continue to support all the former Cirrus Logic/Ambient modem chipsets. 20 Feb 2001 Thanks to Paul Mullen for reporting a website change from Ambient to Intel. |
