| Downloads & Links | |
| This section is exactly what it says - a listing of download files available at this site [all virus checked] and of links to other sites which should prove useful and/or interesting to modem users. Because I'm a cheapskate Yorkshireman the emphasis is on free downloads. Lot of graphics on this page, I'm afraid - all are links to a site. Please note that I have no connection of any kind with any of the sites listed. Contents |

| Motorola SM56 Soft Modem Drivers & Utilities | |
| ISA Uninstall [152 KB] | isa-sm56clean.exe - originally sourced from the Motorola site, it completely cleans the system of [virtually] all traces of the ISA version of the Motorola SM56 modem & is vital for uninstallation and very useful in reinstallation of the modem. Documentation [for both processes]. |
| ISA Build 62.1 [2318 KB] | isa-sm56b62.exe - this is a self-extracting zip file containing the v3.0 Build 62.1 driver files for the ISA version of the Motorola SM56 soft modem. It gives mostly-reliable V.90 connection with Freeserve, whereas earlier Builds do not (although a Build 67.1 is available on the Motorola sites). After downloading use Windows Explorer to run the archive & extract into an empty folder. Then navigate to the folder & run "Setup.exe". As simple as that. 21 Feb 2007: Moved to modem-help.com as no room left within free-host. Sorry. |
| PCI Uninstall [157 KB] | pci-sm56clean.exe - originally sourced from the Motorola site, it completely cleans the system of [virtually] all traces of the PCI version of the Motorola SM56 modem & is vital for uninstallation and very useful in reinstallation of the modem. ISA Documentation [for both processes - same for PCI]. |
| PCI Build 62.1 [1774 KB] | pci-sm56b62.exe - this is a self-extracting zip file containing the v3.0 Build 62.1 driver files for the PCI version of the Motorola SM56 soft modem. It gives mostly-reliable V.90 connection with Freeserve, whereas earlier & later Builds do not (although very much later Builds are available on the Motorola sites, even including Linux drivers now). After downloading use Windows Explorer to run the archive & extract into an empty folder. Then navigate to the folder & run "Setup.exe". As simple as that. 21 Feb 2007: Moved to modem-help.com as no room left within free-host. Sorry. |
| PCI II Build 84.24 [1903 KB] NT5.0 (Windows 2000/XP) |
sm56_pci2_dfv_w2000_build_.zip 22 Nov 2000 - the INF file (smserial.inf) has been changed at source to allow use with NT5 (win2k). This has been extracted from within the driver zip from the Puretek site for the PT-3027 (if you haven't got the point, the Puretek zip is twice the size it needs to be, as they have included a copy of the zip inside itself). This file is provided for your convenience - no support can be provided, so do not ask. The driver will work with the following PCI PnP IDs:
