| Notes: The INF file supplied with the BitSufr does not allow connection to Freeserve. The BT Ignition is a re-badged BitSufr & it's INF file does allow connection.
20 Jul 2001 Paul Mullen of Computer Shopper recommends this site for the INF file that allows a BT Ignition to connect, and this site for info on connections.
The current firmware version is found by entering ATI8 in a terminal program. For init strings Paul recommends a Belgium site (because of the explanations offered) & points out that the strings used depends on both Protocol (V.120, PPP, MLPPP etc.) and also the number & type of channels used. Some old USA (and some European) telephone systems can only handle 56k channels, whilst most Euopean are 64k. Most ISPs will use PPP for single channel applications and MLPPP for multi-channel connections. |
